OPERATING PRINCIPLES

The new SOMA SINUS SODIAL® SCN-A series represents the consistent evolution of our proven sinus pump technology. Thanks to its reduced number of components and flow-optimized design, it is the most hygienic SOMA SINUS SODIAL® pump of its kind. At the heart of the pump is the sinusoidal rotor, which gently transports the product from the suction side to the discharge side in four uniform conveying chambers.

Since the chamber volume remains constant throughout the pumping process, the SCN-A provides virtually pulsation-free, low-shear conveying, ideal for sensitive products and products containing solid pieces.

The New SOMA SINUS SODIAL® SCN-A Series

Hygienic. Powerful. Easy to maintain.

With the new SCN-A series, SOMA Pumps presents an innovative generation of hygienic sinusoidal pumps. Developed for demanding applications in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, it combines exceptionally gentle product handling with high performance, maximum flexibility and a user-friendly hygienic design.

The SCN-A series achieves flow rates of up to 40,000 l/h and handles back pressures of up to 15 bar. It is designed for product temperatures of up to 160 °C and, depending on the pump size, can convey solid pieces measuring up to 45 mm.

Gentle and Virtually Pulsation-Free Conveying

The sinusoidal rotor transports the product exceptionally gently, with low shear and virtually no pulsation. This ensures that even sensitive products and larger solid pieces retain their original structure.

With a suction capability of up to −0.85 bar, the SCN-A also delivers excellent priming performance. Bidirectional operation enables product flow in both directions, providing additional flexibility within the process.

 

Hygienic Design for the Highest Standards

All product-contact components comply with FDA requirements and Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004. The stainless-steel materials used are documented with 3.1 inspection certificates. In addition, the pump has been designed in accordance with EHEDG hygienic design principles.

The SCN-A can be used both as a product transfer pump and as a CIP/SIP cleaning pump. It therefore combines two essential process steps in a single pump.

In-Line Maintenance

The clear and logical design makes the SCN-A particularly user-friendly. The pump can be dismantled directly within the system in just a few minutes, without having to remove it from the piping.

Thanks to the unique SOMA design, even the complete mechanical seal can be removed and replaced while the pump remains installed. This significantly reduces downtime and maintenance requirements.

 

Flexible Connection Positions

The pump housing can be rotated in 45° increments at any time. This allows the position of the connection ports to be adapted flexibly to the respective installation requirements.
